Aberdare Climb offers the best trek, hike, and camp in the Aberdare ranges, visiting waterfalls and caves and summiting Oldonyo Lesatima. Le Satima is a wonderful adventure safari that will take you through the Aberdare Ranges. This is a drive-assisted option, while the 5/6 Days is a trekking and hiking safari to the peak of Oldonyo LeSatima.
Aberdare is a fascinating national park with stunning hiking terrain, natural forests, and also beautiful landscapes. With thick rainforest, spectacular waterfalls, cool mountain breezes, and wild moorlands. Aberdare National Park is a hiking, fishing, and wildlife paradise. The rich greens of the lichen coupled with mossy forests here present a contrast with the sandy yellows and browns of most other parks. The cool climate, pervading mists, cold lakes and streams are a world away from the sun-baked hills and savannahs of the more well-known reserves.
Day 1: Nairobi / Aberdare / Reedbuck camp
Day 2: Reedbuck – Honi River Camp
Day 3: Honi / Le Satima Peak (4001M) / Nairobi
Have breakfast and drive on a steep old track through the forest for 2 hours to the roadhead. Finally, embark on a 2-3 hour trek to Le Satima Peak (4001m). On a clear day, there are opportunities to see Mt. Kenya and Mt. Kilimanjaro on the horizon. Another possible view is Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru, or the surrounding vicinity. Later, we descend to connect with our vehicle for the return journey to Nairobi. A picnic lunch is served en route.
{NB: This is a strictly 4X4 trail}
Mountains have their own climate on account of their height. Rain clouds can appear without warning and be gone hours later. An early morning frost is possible at any time of the year, and guests should bring a fleece and light rain jacket, although, during the heat of the day, shorts and T-shirts should suffice.
Sleeping bag: one rated for four (4) seasons is fine. The bag should be a snug fit since if it is too large, there will be more cool air for the body to warm
