A great hideout – Aberdare Cottages and Fishing Lodge.

Aberdare Cottages and Fishing Lodge offer a serene and picturesque tented camp nestled in the heart of nature. Activities include fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, game drives, bird watching, river swimming, rafting, and nature walks.

Aberdare Cottages & Fishing Lodge is located on a private farm in the foothills of the Aberdare Ranges in central Kenya. It is stuck just 125km away from Nairobi in the lush evergreen slopes of the Aberdares. The cool moist weather supports unendingly manicured tea plantations. The establishment overlooks the ever-flowing Mathioya River with louder roars during the rainy season.  The river is a trout-rich haven for fly anglers, and river swimming is an additional activity. The river banks present a nature walk and bird viewing site.

The Aberdare Cottages & Fishing Lodge is composed of six {6} wooden chalets and five {5} luxury tents. Each chalet and tent is spacious, features balconies, and is furnished with African rustic furniture and a modern en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet and hot shower. Aberdare Cottages and Fishing Lodge’s restaurant serves a wide range of local and continental delicacies prepared by experienced chefs. Self-catering accommodation and camping are also available. They also offer conference facilities at the lodge, fully equipped with flip charts and marker pens, projector screens, photocopying services, etc.

Patrons can engage in recreational activities such as fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, game drives, bird watching, river swimming, nature walks along the Mathioya River, and boat riding in the nearby Chinga dam. Rafting is only done during the rainy season, when the river is at its bream. It would take up to six (6) hours to hike to Gatango Falls in Aberdares National Park and two days to hike to Karuru Falls.
