Flying to Lake Turkana {Eliye Beach}

Flying to Lake Turkana: Eliye Beach, the world’s largest permanent desert lake, the largest alkaline lake, sand dunes, boat rides, beaches, Central Island National Park, and prehistoric and archaeological sites.

Program

Day 1:

Arrive at Wilson Airport for your flight to Lodwar. The flight takes about two hours, and you will be met by your transfer vehicle to Eliye Springs Beach Resort. The drive takes about one and a half hours {1½hrs} to cover 80km. On arrival, a glass of juice will be welcome. Stroll around to discover the adjacent shores or take a warm swim. Enjoy the sunset and stargazing. Dinner and an overnight stay at Eliye Springs Beach Resort.

Day 2:

Capture one of the most memorable and wonderful sunrises over the lake. Breakfast will be served at your own convenience. As soon as the lake calms down, you will board a speedboat with your picnic lunch and a lot of drinking water to visit the magical Central Island National Park. This normally takes about one and a half hours {1½hrs}.

You explore the lakes within the lake on the island. These are the breeding zones, as the name suggests. The first stop should be Flamingo Lake. Hike the sand-filled track to the rim of the crater lake. Optional: descend to the green-coloured lake for a closer view. Back to the speedboat and head to Crocodile Lake and finally to Tilapia Lake. Navigate back to Eliye Springs Beach Resort for dinner and overnight.

Day 3:

 Breakfast will be served. Depending on the timing of your flight, some beach activities can be planned accordingly. Transfer to Lodwar airport for your flight back to Nairobi.
